Northfield Track Awards
The varsity track award program was held on Thursday, May 22, 2013.
Earning varsity chevrons for the boys’ team were Caleb Augustus, Jared Fawley, Seth Frye, Tyler Morgan, Jonathan VanDuyne, Marcus Kroh, Austin Andrews, Josh Bickel, Joe Burcroff, Matt Carey, Jonathon Fawley, Mason Frehse, Austin Frye, Heath Miller, Devin Tracy and Tanner Wilcox. Kailan Watson Dunn earned a letter and manager’s chevron.
Earning JV certificates were Shade Eviston, Yanick Florin, Hunter Louden, Nick Ridenour, Noah Augustus, Noah Shear and Brody Smith.
Tri-Athlete award winners were Matt Carey, Yanick Florin, Hunter Louden, Nick Ridenour and Tanner Wilcox.
Earning an award jacket was Matt Carey.
Earning a captain star was Jonathan VanDuyne. Earning a Senior Plaque for earning 6 varsity letters or more were Caleb Augustus (11 letters), Seth Frye (6 letters) and Tyler Morgan (6 letters).
Making TRC All-Academic honors was Tyler Morgan. Marcus Kroh made honorable mention.
Earning individual awards were Caleb Augustus (Event Award, Most Points), Tyler Morgan (Mental Attitude), Marcus Kroh (Mental Attitude), Austin Frye (Event Award) and Devin Tracy (Event Award).
Individual Champions were Caleb Augustus (County Champion in 3200 M Run; Sectional Champion 3200 M Run). Other champions included the County Champion 4 x 800 M Relay Team of Caleb Augustus, Jonathan VanDuyne, Austin Andrews and Devin Tracy and the County Champion 4 x 400 M Relay Team of Seth Frye, Tyler Morgan, Jonathan VanDuyne and Marcus Kroh.
The Norse finished 2-2 on the season. They were coached by Chad Andrews. He was assisted by Dick Leming.
Earning varsity chevrons for the girls’ team were Paige Cole, Courtney Frank, Jessica Rose, Samantha Summers, Baylee Shoemaker, Holly Dyson, Caitlin Eltzroth, Jenna Halderman, Cherish Leming, Cassidy Miller, Morgan Sickafus, Karla Singer, Bailey Sloan, Kalanu Watson Dunn, Sarah Driscoll, Liz Howenstine and Taylor Kock. Earning their varsity letter were Cassidy Miller, Sarah Driscoll, Liz Howenstine and Taylor Kock. Taylor Kock also earned her numerals and she, Sarah Driscoll and Liz Howenstine won their award jackets.
Tri-Athlete award winners were Paige Cole and Cherish Leming.
Earning a captain star was Paige Cole. Those receiving a senior plaque for earning 6 or more varsity letters during her career were Paige Cole (8 letters), Courtney Frank (6 letters) and Samantha Summers (6 letters)..
Individual awards went to Jenna Halderman (Most Points, Event Award), Karla Singer (Event Award) and Samantha Summers (Mental Attitude Award).
Earning TRC All-Academic honors was Paige Cole. Samantha Summers was honorable mention.
New school records were set by Jenna Halderman in the 1600 M Run (5:26) and 3200 M Run (11:37.56) and the 3200 M Relay Team of Paige Cole, Jenna Halderman, Karla Singer and Brittany Sloan (10:08.70).
Individual champions were Jenna Halderman (County Champion in 800 M Run, 1600 M Run and 3200 M Run; TRC Champion in the 3200 M Run), Kalanu Watson Dunn (County Champion in Pole Vault) and Caitlin Eltzroth (TRC Champion in 100 M Hurdles).
The Lady Norse finished 2-3 in dual meets and were coached by Gina Dale. She was assisted by Kristen Unger.
Girls Track Season Comes To An End
The girls track regionals were held Tuesday with athletes from Manchester and Northfield competing at Warsaw, while Southwood and Wabash were at Ft. Wayne.
No athlete from Wabash County made it out of the regional.
We will post complete county results Wednesday.
County Boys Headed For Regionals
The boys track sectionals were held Thursday with Northfield and Manchester traveling to Plymouth, while Wabash and Southwood headed for Marion.
At Plymouth :

At the Marion sectional, From Southwood making it to regional was Michael Bowman (2nd Place – 800 Meter Run and Brett Wyatt – 4th Place – Shot Put). Both will be at Regional next week at Fort Wayne Wayne High School.
Making it from Wabash was Sam Hall (1600 – 3rd and 800 – 3rd)
Northfield JH Track Awards
The junior high track awards program was held recently in the Northfield cafeteria.
8th graders earning junior high certificates were Jackson Beery, Hailey Bone, Jordan Bratch, Jazmun Carter, Trisha Charles, Annie Gaston, Tori Givens, Jordan keaffaber, Keegan Knepp, Megan Miller, Chris Orpurt, Jacklyn Peas, Audrie Randel, Kiley Snyder, Olivia Thompson, Catherine Tracy and Dayon Waldron.
7th graders earning junior high certificates were Michelle Hunt, Macauley Miller, Emily Miner, Rachel Orpurt, Kyle Reed, Attie Schuler, Indi Shear and Madison Snyder.
6th graders earning junior high certificates were Melanie Beery, Bailey Burcroff, Trevor Burnworth, Peyton Freye, Libby Haupert, Caleigh Holmes, Baylee Louden, Jared Peas, Karlie Poland, Sidney Prater, Erin Proebstle and Kylie Webb.
Earning Tri-Athlete awards for participating in three sports seasons during the 2012-13 school year were Jackson Beery, Jordan Bratch, Tori Givens, Jordan Keaffaber, Keegan Knepp, Chris Orpurt, Jacklyn Peas, Audrie Randel, Dayon Waldron, Michelle Hunt, Macauley Miller, Kyle Reed, Indi Shear and Madison Snyder.
The 7th grade girls finished 4-3 and finished 2nd at the County Meet. The 7th grade boys finished 3-4. The 8th grade girls finished 0-7. 8th grade boys also finished 0-7.
All teams were coached by Steve McCarty, Ryan Sincroft and Lea Howard with assistance from Pam Peas.
County Has 2 Sectional Champions-Several Regional Qualifiers In Track
The state wide girls track sectionals were held Tuesday, with Manchester and Northfield running at Rochester, while Wabash and Southwood were at Marion.
The county had two sectional champions, both from Manchester. Bekah Brunn won the 100 hurdles in a time of 16.41, while Lindsey Dierks won the high jump, going 5′ 2”.
To advance to the regional you must finish in the top 4 of your event.

Other county individuals qualifying for regional were Kelsi Custer of Manchester in the 800 placing 2nd, Karla Singer of Northfield in the 1600 finishing 3rd, Jenna Halderman of Northfield in the 3200 placing 2nd, Elena Schnieders of Manchester in the 300 hurdles placing 2nd, The Manchester 4×100 relay team of Tresa Bruce, Bekah Brunn, Lindsey Budnik, Maddie Burton finishing 2nd, The Manchester 4×400 relay team of Emma Altimus, Bekah Brunn, Lindsey Budnik, Kelsi Custer finishing 3rd, The Northfield 4×800 relay team of Paige Cole, Brittany Sloan, Jenna Halderman, Holly Dyson, Cassidy Miller placing 3rd, Niki Frieden of Manchester in the shot put finishing 4th.
At Marion :
Emily Lehner of Southwood finished 3rd in the 800 and Kyleigh Hampton of Wabash was 3rd in the high jump. Danielle Perlich of Southwood 4th in the 400, Jaycie Wright of Southwood 3rd in 300 hurdles, The 4×400 relay team from Southwood of Sami White, Emily Lehner, Jaycie Wright, Lexi Brickner finished 4th.
Rochester Girls/Whitko Boys Win TRC Crowns
The Rochester girls and Whitko boys track teams won the 2013 TRC track titles Thursday at Southwood.
In the girls race Rochester scored 121.5 points. Manchester was 4th with 95, Wabash 5th with 66, Northfield 6th with 59 and Southwood 7th with 48.
Whitko won the boys meet with 117 points. Manchester was 3rd with 94, Northfield 4th with 90, Southwood 5th with 82 and Wabash 7th with 46.

County Takes Three Of Four RRC Titles
The RRC track meet was held at Southwood Saturday with three of the four divisions being won by Wabash County schools.
Rochester won the 7th grade girls with 114 points. Wabash was 2nd with 86, Southwood 5th with 61, Northfield 6th with 48 and Manchester 7th with 35.
Southwood won the 8th grade girls meet with 123 points. Manchester was 2nd with 92, Wabash 4th with 63 and Northfield 5th with 60.
Wabash won the 7th grade boys with 124.5 points. Manchester was 4th with 57, Northfield 5th with 52 and Southwood 6th with 30.
Manchester won the 8th grade boys meet with 104 points. Wabash was 3rd with 85, Northfield 4th with 66 and Southwood 5th with 57.
Several new meet records were set by Wabash County runners. Congrats to these athletes.
